Sanctuary choir

The First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir sings in services from September through May. The 30-voice choir consists of many professional musicians as well as MWSU students and other fine singers. The members are dedicated people who have an extraordinary love for singing quality sacred music as well as enjoying fellowship with each other. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Room 205 of the Educational Building. Those who enjoy singing are invited to sing with the choir. There are no auditions, but choir members must be able to sing on pitch. Jerry L. Anderson directs the choir.

Vocal soloists and instrumentalist

First Presbyterian Church is fortunate to have many fine vocalists and instrumentalists as members who provide solo and ensemble music for worship services. There is also a FPC Jazz Trio. A brass quintet with tympani assist during many festival services.

Handbell Choirs

The hand bell choir, the toddler of our music program, will be five years old this year,   The choir rings on a complete 5 octave set of Schulmerich hand bells.  Our adult choir has 13 members and interest in playing in the choir is growing.  The adult choir rehearses once a week on Thursday evening from 5:30-6:30 pm.

We have just added the youth choir with six members from 6th-12th grade. The youth choir has been practicing from 5:00-5:30 on Thursday. In 2008 we were able to add a complete 5 octave  hand chimes

Each set (hand chimes and hand bells) can be used alone but together they create an  amazing blend of music. Judy Long directs the hand bell choir.
